17.5" (7/14/99): this bright PN is striking at 280x with a great deal of
structure evident.  Has a boxy appearance, elongated NW-SE with dimensions
~45"x30".  The ends of the major axis are clearly brighter with a bright
shallow arc on the NW end.  This lobe has an irregular surface brightness
with a couple of brighter spots.  The SE end is also brighter but has an
oddly flat edge.  At 380x, the eastern end of the SE lobe is brighter and has
a small extension or nodule which bulges out beyond the rectangular outline
to the east.  The center is clearly darker and with careful viewing appears
as a dark band running SW-NE.  A mag 12 star lies ~45" NW of center and the planetary precedes a wide uneven mag 8/10.5 pair by 5'.

13": bright, fairly small, elongated NW-SE, brighter along the NW side.  A
darker center visible at 288x appears to cut through the minor axis. The NW
edge is slightly curved while the other sides and corners are "boxy" giving
an irregular rectangular outline.  The ends of the minor axis are fainter.  A
wide double star h2810 = 7.7/10.5 at 41" lies 5.3' E.  A mag 12 star is just
off the NW end about 40" from the center.  Forms a striking pair with
globular cluster N6440 20' SSW in the same low power field.

8": fairly bright, elongated, uniform.  Located within string of four mag
11/12 stars.

13: at 79x appears as a very faint, stellar object which is located 1.3' NW
of mag 3.2 G Scorpii!  Excellent contrast gain with OIII filter.  Faint but
easily visible unfiltered at 166x and responds well to UHC filter, estimate
V =12.5.  Forms an unusual trio with the bright star and globular
N6441which lies 3' ESE of G Scorpii.

confirmed.  Located midway between double star PZ Scorpii = 6.8/8.2 at 10"
located 12' E and mag 6.8 SAO 209307 13' W.

17.5" (8/15/01): easily identified location at 220x but the Th 4-5 was not

visible intermittently.  Slightly easier to view at 280x and UHC.  Situated
on a line between a mag 13 star 1.1' ESE and a mag 11 star 2.1' WNW.  Th 4-6
lies 18' NNE.

H1_37 = Haro1_37  RA 17,50.7 DEC -39,17 MAG 13.9 CSM ? SIZE 10"x8" on 08/07/97. At 134X, stellar, requiring the O-III filter and averted vision. Good response to the O-III & UHC filters. No response to the H-B filter. It is really windy so the stars look like blobs. At 169X, still stellar, requiring the UHC filter and averted vision. 17.5: at 220x with OIII filter appears as a faint, stellar object just 1.5'
N of a mag 11.5 star.  The planetary is faintly visible without filter at
220x (although difficult to identify) and exhibits a fairly weak contrast
gain by blinking.  The identification is confused as the planetary is
located at the E end of a string of three additional mag 15-16 stars within
1.5' to the W and ~20" to the E of the third star in this line.  It was
dificult to determine by blinking which of these last two stellar objects
in the string was the planetary but the identified candidate was confirmed
on the Strausberg-ESO finder chart.  Appeared stellar at this power and
approximately V = 15.5-16.

Th4_6, RA 17,51.0 DEC -18,47 MAG 15.6 CSM ? SIZE stellar, on 07/12/96. At 134X, the PN is stellar, faint, requiring the O-III filter and averted vision. Good response to the O-III & UHC filters. Field Description: At 62.5X, stellar, faint, requiring the O-III filter and averted vision.  Good response to the O-III filter.  Fair response to the UHC filter.  No response to the H-B filter.  At 100X, the image is better but still stellar, requiring the O-III filter and averted vision.  At 200X, the PN shows up well using the UHC filter and averted vision.  There is a pair of very faint stars, visible with averted vision, very near the position of the PN but can’t verify if one of them is the PN.  Nice close double is to the east of the PN.
Observed at Navaho Flats on 07/15/93 and at Mt. Pinos on 07/17/93 by Kent Wallace using an 8” f/10 SCT.

Fair response to the O-III & UHC filters. No response to the H-B filter. At 134X can see the PN with averted vision alone but needed the UHC filter to identify it as a PN. At 169X & 254X, the PN shows up well in the UHC filter with a hint of a small disk. At 254X it could be seen with averted vision alone as a faint star but the UHC filter was still required to identifv it as a PN. Identified the field in the SEC finderchart. 17.5" (8/16/01): picked up at 220x using a GSC finder chart without filter as
a fuzzy star in a rich star field.  Confirmed as PN with a UHC filter and
showed a good contrast gain.  Better view at 280x; the very faint central
star (mag 16.2) was intermittently visible with direct vision embedded in a
10" glow.  Adding a UHC filter the disc sharpens up wit a crisp outline.
Situated within a rich star field within a NW-SE string of three stars.  A
mag 11 star lies 1' SE and a similar star is 1' NW.  A little further NW in
this string is a mag 11/12.5 double star.
